Initially, the customer sought a quote of £10,000 from another contractor to remove and replace the timber with modern UPVC. However, we offered an alternative solution: to refurbish and enhance the original timber for a fraction of the cost. This approach not only preserved the character of the property but also provided a more sustainable and visually appealing result compared to plastic coverings.

Our Solution

Our restoration process involved several meticulous steps to ensure a flawless finish:

• 1. Removing Guttering: We began by carefully taking down all guttering to access the surfaces and provide a clean slate.


• 2. Sanding and Preparing Surfaces: Using a hands-on approach, we sanded down the timber by hand to avoid any aggressive damage that mechanical tools might cause.





• 3. Repairing Rotten Timber: Any rotten areas were removed and replaced or filled, then sanded smooth to seamlessly blend with the surrounding material.


• 4. Treating Sap Spots: We treated all sap-affected areas to ensure the new paint adhered properly and to prevent future sap staining.


• 5. Painting and Priming: After preparing the surfaces, we applied a primer followed by two coats of high-quality paint, giving the fascia and soffit a fresh, durable finish.


• 6. Replacing Rainwater Goods: To complete the project, we replaced the rainwater goods, ensuring the system was both functional and visually complementary.

The transformation was remarkable. The fascia and soffit now boast a clean, restored appearance, blending seamlessly with the property’s character. By choosing to refurbish instead of replace, the client not only saved money but also retained the original charm of their home.
